CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin

The go-to growth hormone combination for deeper sleep, faster recovery and better body composition.

Growth hormone is released by the pituitary in pulses, mostly during deep sleep, and output falls steadily from your thirties onward. CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are two peptides that work on that release from two different directions. CJC-1295 mimics the hormone your brain uses to tell the pituitary “release now.” Ipamorelin mimics ghrelin, a second signal that amplifies the pulse. Together they produce a strong, clean growth hormone release that still follows your body’s natural rhythm.

Because the combination is effective and well tolerated, it’s the growth hormone protocol Dr. Loera prescribes most often, for sleep, recovery, body composition and healthy aging. It is taken at bedtime and works with your training, nutrition and sleep rather than in place of them.

How it helps

What CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin does

It restores a growth hormone pattern that looks like the one you had at 25, with knock-on effects across sleep, repair and metabolism.

Natural growth hormone pulses

Two complementary signals produce a strong release through your own pituitary, with feedback loops intact.

Deeper sleep

Taken at bedtime, it increases slow-wave sleep, the stage where tissue repair and memory consolidation happen.

Faster recovery

Higher overnight growth hormone and IGF-1 mean less soreness and quicker bounce-back from training and long days.

Lean mass and fat metabolism

Growth hormone supports muscle protein synthesis and fat burning, especially combined with resistance training.

Joint, tendon and bone support

Connective tissue and bone density benefit from restored growth hormone signaling.

Skin and overall vitality

Many people report better skin, energy and mood as sleep and repair improve.

Why two peptides instead of one

CJC-1295 (usually the “no DAC” form, also called Mod GRF 1-29) is a GHRH analog: it tells the pituitary to release growth hormone. Ipamorelin is a growth hormone secretagogue that works through the ghrelin receptor and amplifies that release, with very little effect on cortisol, prolactin or appetite compared with older secretagogues. Each alone gives a modest pulse; together the effect is considerably stronger and still pulsatile, which is the point. The combination has been the standard in peptide clinics for years for exactly that reason.

How it compares to the alternatives

  • Sermorelin is a milder GHRH analog, a good first step for older adults or anyone who wants to start gently.
  • Tesamorelin is the most potent GHRH analog and the choice when visceral belly fat is the main target.
  • Synthetic HGH supplies the hormone directly, bypassing your controls, with more side effects and more risk of over-treatment.

Most people are well served by CJC-1295/Ipamorelin, and it can be combined with tesamorelin when goals call for it.

What a protocol looks like

The two peptides are typically combined in one vial and injected subcutaneously at bedtime, five nights a week, on an empty stomach (no food for about two hours beforehand, since insulin blunts the growth hormone pulse). Protocols run three to six months. We check IGF-1, fasting glucose and HbA1c at baseline and around three months. Many patients then take a break or drop to a maintenance schedule.

  • Changing body composition in your 30s, 40s and beyond despite effort
  • Low-normal IGF-1 on labs with symptoms to match
  • Wanting to support growth hormone naturally rather than use HGH
  • Comfortable with a nightly self-injection and periodic bloodwork

Let’s talk first

The process

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Consultation and labs

We review symptoms, goals and history, and check IGF-1, blood sugar and relevant hormones.

  2. Step 2

    Your protocol

Dose, timing and course length, with sleep, training and nutrition targets to match your goals.

  3. Step 3

    First dose and teaching

Injection technique demonstrated in the office; a one-minute bedtime routine afterward.

  4. Step 4

    Three to six months

Prescriptions ship from a licensed compounding pharmacy. Five nights a week, two hours after your last meal.

  5. Step 5

    Reassess

Follow-up labs and a check-in on sleep, recovery and body composition at about three months.

Good to know

CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin questions, answered

What is CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin used for?

It’s used to raise your own growth hormone for better sleep, faster recovery, lean muscle, fat loss and healthy aging. It is the most commonly prescribed growth hormone peptide combination because it is effective and well tolerated.

Is it the same as taking HGH?

No. HGH is the hormone itself, given directly. CJC-1295/Ipamorelin stimulates your pituitary to release your own growth hormone in natural pulses, keeping your body’s feedback loops intact. That makes over-treatment far less likely and side effects milder.

How long does it take to work?

Sleep usually deepens within one to two weeks. Recovery and energy improve over three to four weeks. Visible changes in body composition take eight to twelve weeks of consistent use alongside training.

Why is it taken at bedtime?

Growth hormone is naturally released in pulses during deep sleep. Dosing at bedtime on an empty stomach lines the peptide up with that rhythm and avoids insulin, which blunts the release.

Is CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin FDA approved?

No. Neither peptide is an FDA-approved drug. They are prescribed off-label and prepared by compounding pharmacies, and the FDA has restricted some compounding of them, so availability can change. Dr. Loera will confirm what can currently be prescribed.

What are the side effects?

The common ones are mild: water retention, tingling or numbness in the hands, vivid dreams, flushing or lightheadedness right after injecting, and injection-site redness. Ipamorelin can briefly increase hunger. Blood sugar can rise in susceptible people, which is why we monitor it.

What is the difference between CJC-1295 with DAC and without DAC?

The DAC version lasts for days and produces a constant elevation in growth hormone rather than pulses. Most clinicians, including Dr. Loera, prefer the no-DAC form (Mod GRF 1-29) because pulsatile release is more physiologic and better tolerated.

Do I need bloodwork?

Yes. We check IGF-1, fasting glucose and HbA1c before starting and around three months in, so we know the protocol is working and remains safe.

Is it banned in sports?

Yes. Growth hormone secretagogues are prohibited under WADA rules. If you compete in a tested sport, tell us before starting.

How much does CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin cost?

It depends on dose and course length. Peptide therapy is self-pay and not covered by insurance. You’ll get a clear quote at your consultation, and our price list is always available.
